‘He’s a hero’: Pupper’s keen sense of smell and loyalty saves family home and reptile sibling from disastrous fire

You know it is funny, we grew up with wholesome movies like Lassie, thinking that any dog worth its fur would be high on alert to pawtect their family in the event of trouble. But over the years and millions of derpy dog videos that have been strewn about the internet, much if not all hope of coming across a canine commando such as lassie has all but lost its appeal. That is, until this brave buddy stepped on the scene and became an action hero, not once, but twice over.

For you see, today we dive deep into the story of a border collie who had traded the sheepdog life for the house dog life, but not at the expense of his sharp sense and sense of loyalty to his family. And the moment that he sensed that something was wrong, he made sure that the right people were informed to have the situation dealt with. He pawformed cool and composed under pressure, and did not let his lack of language skills stop him from getting across that there was something disastrous afoot.

  • Collies are known for their smarts, but that is usually related to sheep and the gathering of sheep. But it seems as though, in the absence of sheep, this clever canine turned its intelligence towards pawtecting his family and home. It is good to know that his talents are not being wasted and that he is bettering himself through education to make tomorrow a safer day for everyone involved.

  • Proof that sometimes pushing is the best policy, especially if you happen to be a medical expert who has been trapped in the body of a canine who cannot specifically express what needs to be done.
